FAQs
About dictation, AI editing, the free trial, and data storage.
What makes Gaoding different from regular voice typing?
In addition to turning speech into text, you can select a passage in your document and ask AI to shorten it, rewrite it, or change its tone. You’ll see the edits first and can apply them after reviewing.
Do I need to dictate the whole article at once?
No, just dictate a short section at a time. Click once to start recording, then click again to stop and submit. Each section can be up to 30 seconds; it will be submitted automatically when time is up.
Will AI change my article directly?
No. Review the changes first, then click “Apply.” You can also undo them afterward. For anything you want to change yourself, just type it in.
Will my microphone stay on all the time?
No. Click the voice button to start recording, then click again to stop and submit. You can also hold down the shortcut key and release it to submit. Dictating document text and giving Agent editing instructions are separate actions, and each section can be up to 30 seconds. If you cancel or switch windows, any audio that hasn’t been submitted will be discarded.
Will my recordings be kept?
Gaoding doesn’t save audio recordings. Audio is temporarily held in memory and sent to OpenAI via OpenRouter for speech recognition during that session; it isn’t written to Gaoding’s database. Voice usage is recorded only in seconds. When you use Agent, the relevant document, instructions, and conversation are also sent to OpenAI via OpenRouter for processing. Document text and version history are stored in your Gaoding cloud account. Gaoding requests exclude providers that use content for training; providers’ data retention and processing are subject to OpenRouter’s and OpenAI’s policies.
Do I need to pay?
Sign in with Google for a free 7-day trial—no credit card required, and you won’t be charged automatically. The trial includes 15 minutes of voice input and 30 Agent instructions per day. The personal plan is USD20 per month. See the pricing page for subscription quotas and tax details. You can check your remaining usage in the account menu.
Can I download my articles?
Yes. Export an article as a Markdown file to save it on your computer or open it in another Markdown-compatible editor. You can also export your version history as a backup.
What if it mishears a word or makes the wrong edits?
You can fix typos yourself. If an AI edit doesn’t work for you, don’t apply it. Select the passage and explain what you’d like changed. You’ll still need to check names, numbers, and facts yourself.
Can I upload a recording to get a meeting transcript?
Gaoding currently supports voice input that starts with one click and ends with another. Each section can be up to 30 seconds and is submitted automatically when time is up. There’s no audio file upload or full-meeting transcription feature. To work with an interview recording, use a service that supports file transcription to get the text first, then paste it into Gaoding to edit.
When I use voice typing on my computer, where does the text go?
It goes where the cursor was when you started recording. If you’ve selected text, the dictated text replaces that selection. Dictating document text and giving Agent editing instructions are separate actions; editing instructions generate a preview first and won’t be inserted into the document as text.
Can AI polish articles in Traditional Chinese?
Yes. Select the passage you want to edit, then ask AI to shorten it, break up sentences, or adjust the tone. You can also explain in Traditional Chinese which sentences and examples to keep. AI may still misunderstand your intent, so check names, numbers, and conclusions in the preview. Don’t apply edits that don’t work for you.
